Lions Memorial or Necrology Service
We ask all present to spend the next few minutes in tribute to the memory of Lion (name), (or to the tribute of members who have passed on).
This is the hour of memory and faith. This is the hour of remembrance and gratitude. This is the hour of precious recollection and tribute.
Gathered herein from the fellowship of Lionism, we pause to pray for our departed.
“God of the Universe, we know that things happen for the best, and that our lives are guided by thy beneficent hand. Lion(s) (name(s)) is no longer with us and will not evermore be with us, but will dwell in our hearts forevermore. We know that (s)he is now in Your care and has been welcomed.”
Lion (name) was endowed by our God with a generous and friendly spirit toward (his/her) fellow man. (S)He had great faith, courage, and integrity. (S)He gave forth enthusiasm, ideas, and challenges to exemplify the glory of Lionism.
Lion (name) became a member of the (Name of Club) in (year). (S)He served (her/his) Club as (name of positions) (and if any District positions) and also (his/her) District as (name of District positions). We hold dear in our hearts (his/her) memory, as (he/she) had the spirit of Lionism, and the ethics and objectives of Lionism set deep in (his/her) heart.
(if annual service the above may be eliminated)
“The souls of the righteous are in the Hands of God, and there, shall no torment touch them”.
Lion(s) (name) devoted many hours to serving (his/her) fellow man and striving to make (his/her) community a better place to live. Through the work (he/she) did in (his/her) Club’s activities, (he/she) was an inspiration to all who follow.
“God calls our loved ones, but we lose not wholly, what He has given; they live on earth in thought and deed, as truly as in his Heaven”.
We shall miss Lion (name) at our meetings, and we know how deeply (he/she) is missed by (his/her) loved ones. We shall strive to accomplish the goals of Lionism and service to our fellow men as (he/she) would have us do. We, (his/her) fellow members, dedicated ourselves to carry on the great work of Lionism until we shall all meet with (him/her) (them) in the future.
(All) “Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”. Amen

“Now the laborer’s task is over
now the work day is past
now upon the farther shore
lands the voyager at last.
Father, in Thy gracious keeping
Leave us now, Thy servant sleeping”. Amen
